In 1984 they thought we were crazy. To try and grow grapes without using too many chemicals seemed impossible. We’ve just spent the last 25 years proving that they were right but now it seems that everybody wants to be crazy, and that’s just what this planet needs. Crazy by Nature.

We’ve learnt that if you are kind to Nature she will always repay you, with quality. We don’t use herbicides, insecticides, systemic fungicides or soluble fertilisers.
We try and build a balance. To create harmony so that there will be no place for “dis-ease”. 



As one of the first winegrowers in the Southern Hemisphere to practice the use of biodynamic techniques in the vineyard and cellar, our practices include working with the sun, stars, planets and moon as well using special animal, mineral and herbal preparations that enhance the life (bio) energy (dynamic) of all living things on our farm. This may seem as crazy as a lunatic on a full moon but it makes us happy and even more enthusiastic as each season commences. Learn more about biodynamics.

Shotberry Chardonnay is a blend from our biodynamic Estate vineyards in the Gisborne winegrowing district. Shotberries are those little seedless grapes from the mendoza clone of Chardonnay that appear when the flowering has been interrupted by cold conditions. Made in a sensitive style with the freshness of an ocean breeze, aromas of white peach and melon and a vibrant palate.

A bold blend of varieties that have been proven to grow well in the Gisborne region. With a backbone of Malbec, the wild tang of Syrah for spice, the soft fruity notes of Viognier. This is a juicy, velvety textured red wine.
